Book Review - Girl Online by Zoe Sugg

hi,

so today I'll write a review about the book Girl Online by Zoe Sugg.

The author:

The author Zoe Sugg is nobody else than the famous blogger and Youtuber Zoella. She is a very successful blogger and her Youtube channel, where she talks about fashion, Make-up, Lifestyle but also about herself and her panic attacks.

Zoe is now 24 years old and lives with her boyfriend in Brighton, Great Britten. Girl Online is her first novel and it was published by Penguin Books.

Content:

The story is about a teenage girl named, Penny Porter who bloggs anonymous as GirlOnline about her live, school, problems and also  about her panic attacks. Penny is a shy and clumsy girl which gets her in a very, very embarrassing situation in school. But she's lucky and one day after "that" happened her parents, her best friend Elliot and she travel to America, where her parents organize a wedding. At the wedding preparation she meets the absolutely handsome Noah. They fall in love with each other and spend christmas and new years eve together. But when Penny comes home she finds out that Noah didn't told her everything about himself…

Opinion:

I bought the book because I love Zoella's blog and YouTube channel and she's something like role model to me. And to be honest I didn't knew what the book was about.

I personally loved this book, which is a little bit unusual because I absolutely don't like romances and everything like this. But I'll tell you all the things I liked, or even loved about it and also the things I didn't like that much. And I would recommend it to everyone who wants to read a nice maybe a little bit expectable love story!

Things I liked:

  • I absolutely loved the hints about other books or films. I think it's pretty cool when something like that is in a book, in this one there were some about Harry Potter and The Fault in our Stars and also a lot about Downtown Abby which I actually don't know what it is.

  • Zoe is extremely talented in describing things and especially New York. I'll go there this summer and reading this book made me so excited to go there. She wrote so many interesting things about it and it made me just feel like New York is a magical place.

  • A big part of the book are panic attacks, how to handle them and that it is ok to have them. And it was so helpful for me because I also suffer under panic attacks but I won't write about this yet because I don't feel brave or confident enough. But this book helped me a lot!

  • And the last thing I liked was the end, it was extremely exciting and I wasn't even sure if it would be a happy end or not but I don't want to spoiler you so I don't write too much.

Things I didn't like:

So to be honest there is just one thing that I didn't like.

This is my personal opinion and I guess it's obvious because it is a love story but I don't like it when books are too unrealistic. And I know it's a book but I don't like it when a story takes place in "our" world and then a lot of super (sometimes unrealistic) things happen to the protagonists.
For example (Spoiler!), in the book Penny fell in love with Noah but they had no more time to meet each other because Penny had to go back home but suddenly her parents got an other job in New York and they can stay at Noahs place and celebrate christmas and New Years Eve together.
But I guess love stories are about fantastic things that happen to the main characters..

Quotes:

I always write down quotes in books or look for some on the internet because I love to write them down in note books, school books, on my phone ore print them and pin them on my walls.
So here are my favorites: I hope you liked my first book review, please tell me what you think about it and if you also read the book.

"Sometimes you have to face up your fears to realize that they aren't real."

"If you could invite any fictional character to a picnic who would it be?" I instantly smile. Noah's random questions are definatley great ice-breakers. !Augustus Warters from The Fault in Our Stars." I say, " So I could bring him back to life" "Great Answer", Noah says "I'd bring back that sappy guy from Twilight- so I could kill him."

I hope you liked my first book review, please tell me what you think about it and if you also read the book.

Book Reviews

hi,

so in my new years list I wrote that I want to do book reviews.
I spend most of my free-time with reading because I love it so much and that's why I thought I can combine writing my blog and reading books.

But I've got a problem. Maybe you've already noticed, but my english isn't perfect. I make grammar and spelling mistakes and that's because I'm from non-english speaking country. But I decided to try my best and blog in english because it's a world language and many people can read it.

So the problem is that I read many of my books in german (my mother tongue) because I enjoy sometimes light reads, or the book is originally written in german (or a language that isn't english). As I got older I also started to read english books because there's a big difference between what the author has written and what the translation says. But sometimes it's nice to read in german because it's easier and if there is on a very special theme I don't know the vocabulary for it.

So that's why I decided to write my book reviews in the language I read it. I'm very sorry if there won't come that many english book posts but I'll try to read more english books.
Currently I'm reading Girl Online by the brilliant blogger and YouTuber Zoe Sugg so stay tuned for a book review about it!

10th of Demeber

hi,

this is my favorite face cream. It's by the brand bebe young care and it's super moisturizing. I love it in december because it helps your skin not to get rough or anything else when it is so cold outside.
